Graffiti Jam 2023
Graffiti Jam 2023 at The Loods: A Weekend of Color and Culture
The Graffiti Jam 2023, held at The Loods in Roosendaal, was a vibrant event celebrating urban culture and art. Taking place on June 24 and 25, the event transformed the walls of The Loods HOF and the adjacent stadium into lively canvas where (guest) painters showcased their innovative styles and techniques. The highlight was the mix of styles and unique interpretations of graffiti by the artists.
The weekend was marked by tropical heat, contributing to the lively atmosphere. Saturday was consistently busy with visitors admiring the artworks and performances. Despite the heatwave on Sunday, many visitors still came to admire the more completed works. Some painters chose to relax during the day and only complete their artworks after sunset.
A notable highlight of Graffiti Jam 2023 was the creation of the “Panorama Roosendaal”. In a circular structure on the grounds of The Loods, various artists presented a 360-degree view of Roosendaal city. This artwork, inspired by the historical Panorama Mesdag, displayed a lively mix of graffiti styles, forming a dynamic and versatile vision of the city.
The culinary aspect of the event was also successful with offerings of tasty hotdogs, Mexican food, and Surinamese food. The musical program attracted much attention, with the highlight being the performance of Eternal of Wu-Tang Killa Beez (USA) on Saturday evening, drawing fans from all over the Netherlands and beyond. The closing on Sunday evening by Hyena Hex was also a memorable moment, along with performances by Noodles (UK) and various DJs like Skinny D and Ray La Soul.
The successful edition of Graffiti Jam 2023 exemplifies how The Loods has established itself as a key location for graffiti in the Netherlands. With both national and international artists, the event has grown into one of Europe’s largest graffiti jams, showcasing the growing graffiti culture in Roosendaal and The Loods’ role as a center for creative expression and community spirit.
The combination of live art, music, and conviviality created a unique experience that brought visitors and artists closer together.
