Panorama Roosendaal 2023
Panorama Roosendaal: A Living Portrait of the City
Recently, a unique artwork has emerged at The Loods: the “Panorama Roosendaal”. Inspired by the famous Panorama Mesdag - a cylindrical painting by Hendrik Willem Mesdag from 1881 offering a 360-degree view of the sea, dunes, and the village of Scheveningen - this project is a contemporary representation of our city.
The creation of the panorama was a true team effort. On the Tuesday evening before the Graffiti Jam 2023, six volunteers built a temporary round wall on the lawn next to The Loods. The next evening, the wooden panels were latexed to provide a perfect surface for the graffiti. During the Graffiti Jam 2023, a crew of talented painters created a panorama inside this structure, capturing various iconic images of Roosendaal in different graffiti styles.
The artwork could be admired next to The Loods until the “viewing evening” after the Graffiti Jam. To preserve the originality of the work, it was then dismantled. But, good news: soon the panorama will be reconstructed elsewhere in the city. Visitors will then be able to admire this impressive work and enjoy various surprise performances that will take place inside the panorama.
The “Panorama Roosendaal” project has recently been nominated for the Roosendaal Culture Prize. We are very proud of this recognition!
